This was shot with a medium format film camera (Hasselblad 500CM made in the 70s). The exposure lasted 4 minutes. With proper technique and right usage of chemistry, you can attain remarkable quality that is just as good as the best digital cameras today. Working with film is much more "hands on" than working with digital. Because of that reason, there are more things that you can do to customize its look. For instance, I developed the negative in a way to bring down the highlights and bringing up the shadows. This allowed me to show the slight gradations of the white car body but still able to show the details in the dark trees.
Shooting at night really pushes the envelope technically but the technique is always used to serve the artistic vision. I love this interplay of the two. I don't see the technical and the artistic as opposites. I see them as partners.
