When I shoot long exposure for waterfalls, I like to show the direction of the water flow. This direction in real life is not hard to see in real life because of all the commotion of splashing waters. The long shutter turns the individual splashes into one long velvety ribbon. Here is a good example of how pictures do lie. Interesting photographs for me, should not be a real representation of what was in front of you. But rather what was inside of you.
